4*
This is a story of a woman whose life is changed in an instant. This is the story of how one day can fill your heart with joy...then smash it into a million pieces. This is the story of a woman learning to start over. This is Maci's story.
God I don't even know where to begin with this story...it gets inside of you, fills you with questions and leaves you doubting your own life. How on earth would you cope in that situation? How do you move on when your heart belongs to someone else...just because they're gone...doesn't mean that your heart forgets how to love them? Then in walks Calvin...someone who makes your heart begin to beat again? someone who makes you want to hope for a happily ever after? someone who begins to breath life into a section of you that you thought had been buried along with your husband.
Now, what did I think...well, it was exceptionally well written, the plot and story development were flawless! The progression of the romance between Maci and Calvin was believable and also respectful. The internal emotional conflict Maci faces was beautifully written! I actually cant remember the last time I read something that's left me so filled with sadness and joy and a million other emotions. Very well done Lisa. I'd love to see a follow up...little hint there...lol 4 stars

Excerpt:

My phone rings, startling me. When I look at the screen and see Calvin’s name, I find myself letting out a little girlie squeal.
“Hello, you,” I say, snuggling into my seat.
“So, I wake up from an amazing sleep, look out of my window, and guess what?” he asks in a croaky voice, which sounds like he has, indeed, just woken up.
“What?”
“I see this beautiful girl sitting in a chair in her garden, sipping on what I assume is coffee, and I feel the need to say morning to her.”
“Is that right?” I smile.
“Yup.”
A noise coming from the bottom of my garden startles me. When I see Calvin jump my back fence using one arm, still holding his phone in the other, I can’t believe my eyes. He smiles and briskly walks over to me. I’m stunned, the damn phone still attached to my ear. As soon as he reaches me, he bends down and plants a small kiss on my mouth. He then smiles and says, “Morning”, before turning and walking back to the fence to jump it again. I’m totally dumbstruck. Who does that? Calvin, that’s who. I laugh and shake my head, ending the call when I hear his chuckle.
