Sex in the Title by Zack Love SPOILER FREE REVIEW

Sex in the Title by Zack Love Review

New York City, May 2000. The Internet bubble has burst and Evan, a computer programmer, is fired with an email from his boss. The next day, his girlfriend dumps him, also via email. Afraid to check any more emails, Evan desperately seeks a rebound romance but the catastrophes that ensue go from bad to hilariously worse.

Fortunately, Evan meets Sammy -- someone whose legendary disasters with females eclipse even his own. To reverse their fortunes, they recruit their friends -- Trevor, Yi, and Carlos -- to form a group of five guys who take on Manhattan in pursuit of dates, sex, and adventure.

When Evan, a closet writer, falls desperately in love with a Hollywood starlet, he schemes to meet her by writing a novel that will sweep her off her feet. Sammy knows nothing about publishing but is confident of one thing: Evan's book should have the word "sex" in the title.

With musings about life, relationships, and human psychology, this quintessential New York story about the search for happiness follows five men on their comical paths to trouble, self-discovery, and love.

My Review

5*
I can honestly say that I haven't read ANYTHING this funny in a long time if ever!! Zack Love is a genius its that simple! He has 5 well developed main characters that I think everyone will be able to relate to in some way shape or form, you will have a favourite in no time! I loved the story, I prefer a busy plot as I find it keeps me more engaged and this crazy chaotic book kept me not only engaged but riveted! Its laugh out loud funny and even though some people may find it offensive or crass, I think as long as you have a sense of humour then this will have you laughing for days! It is a true piece of comedic genius! I am very tempted to give copies of it to all the uptight people in my life for Christmas!! Its one of those books that just makes you go 'OMG that would make an EPIC movie!!' Its like a horny male version of Love Actually but on steroids! ;) And if you are anything like me then you will be looking around your group of friends wondering which one will end up with or has had that specific injury ;) I soooooo want more from these 5 friends!! I will be recommending this to anyone I come across who has even a slight sense of humour! Mr. Love be prepared because I want a sequel!! :D

Tijan Interview!!!!

Tijan Interview!!

We were super lucky to have this amazing author permit us an interview! Thank you so much for your time Tijan!

How do you structure your storylines? First to last chapter? Or another way?
Generally first to last chapter, but that’s not always. With Mason and Fallen Fourth Down, I wrote different sections of the book and moulded them together during the editing process. I'm doing the same with Sustain right now, but Jaden is being written from beginning to end. If I'm in a certain mood and can’t get a certain scene out of my head, I’ll just write it then and there rather than trying to force myself to write it at a later time when I might not be in the same mood.

Do you have any writing rituals or superstitions?
I don’t think so. I usually always need a beverage with me, though. I need good music. If I find a great new album, then I can write much better for some reason.

Do you have any specific characters that you see aspects of you own personality in?
All of them do. They all come from within me, through my lens and perspective.

Who's your inspiration?

No one. Sometimes I’ll find quotes that inspire me, but I don’t look up to a certain person and hope to be like them. I've had influences like a book that Martin Luther King Jr. wrote and I read in college that was very inspirational.

What made you decide to self publish?
I’m horrible at querying agents. I queried three agents and received some good feedback, but the whole process was overwhelming to me. There’s so many different agencies and all of them had different requirements. I just wanted to write, not spend months figuring all of that out so after the three responded, I just wrote. The decision to publish happened because I read an article of another author who got a big publishing deal because her selfpubbed books had done so well so that gave me an idea to maybe try and make some money that way. Then, when I had to evacuate from a huge flood and I was out of work for a week, I went to my parents’ house and got Jaded edited and ready to be published. I slowly published two more after that over the next year and a half.

Did you find it difficult to write so many different genres?
No, I don’t look at them as genres. They’re just the next project for me and that storyline from my head. Usually when I’m done with the book, I’ll look and figure out what genre they fit in. Sometimes that’s the hardest part. lol

What did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed. I was convinced growing up that I was either going to be a marine biologist or a lawyer. I didn’t want to move away from my family so the marine biology was out and when I went to college, my first humanities college was so boring to me that I knew being a lawyer was out too. After that, I switched to psychology and ended up going to graduate school for counselling. The year before grad school is when my love for writing kicked in and it was hard to put that aside, to go for the ‘safe’ job. After I was done, it didn’t matter to me. I chose a job that wasn’t too stressful for me and would open up a lot of time where I could dedicate to writing.

If you were being sent to a desert island for a year what 5 things would you take?
My fiancé, my puppy, a phone, computer (with internet), and clothes. Coffee would be nice too.

You write about true love... Do you describe it from experience? Or what you hope it'd be?
Oh geez. Some of it may be from experience, but I’ve never really thought about this question. I’ll say a mix of both, also what every person wants in life.

Is Logan ever going to bone Sam? #Team Logan (Belinda)
Uh….you’ve not read Fallen Fourth Down? I can’t answer this, for those who haven’t read it.

Was there much research involved in writing Carter Reed?
I don’t remember doing much research. I think I researched guns one day, but I didn’t need to at the end. I might’ve researched different job titles so Emma’s job sounded somewhat realistic.

What is your earliest book related memory?
When I started. It really just happened by accident. I was on vacation at my family’s cabin and they had a very very old computer. I grew up with a huge imagination with a ton of storylines in my head, but I didn’t know they were storylines. I just daydreamed a ton, but that day, I couldn’t handle it and I had to get them out. Once I started typing them out on my dad’s old computer, it clicked with me and I knew that’s what I had to do whether or not anybody read my work.

Which book/series did you have the most fun writing?
I love writing the Fallen Crest books. I’ve written so much of them that it’s hard to stop my mind from creating all these different storylines. When it comes to the big books, I have to define and narrow a lot of extra information into the storyline that the series is following. To be honest, I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop writing these guys after I’m done.

Who designs your covers?
I’ve purchased a few pre-mades from Mae I Design and Cover It Designs. The main designer I work with is Lisa Jordan Photography, but I’ve done some of my own as well. I usually have an idea, do a mock-up, and send it to Lisa with the instructions for her to do her magic. She always sends something back that’s way better and more beautiful than I could’ve imagined.

When you aren't in the writing cave what do you do in your spare time?
Being lazy. Watching television, spending time with my fiancĂ©, and playing with my puppy. Otherwise if I’m not doing those, I’m cleaning or on facebook and joking around with my friends.

What genres do you like to read? And are there any you steer clear from?
I’ve been enjoying paranormal romance lately. I devoured a ton of New Adult awhile back, but since I write it, I think that’s why I moved into paranormal. It’s just different and not something I’d write. There’s not much I steer clear from. If it’s a good book, I’m down to read it.

Who do you see as the perfect Mason, Logan and Carter?
To be honest, I don’t have anyone in mind. I usually just refer to the book covers, but I like to let readers have their own images in their heads.

Are you still surprised when readers contact you to thank you for sharing your books?
I love those messages! And yes I am. Some of them are so humbling that it fuels me to keep writing.

When did it dawn on you that you were 'making it' as an author?
I always feel weird with this question because I’m hesitant to say that I am. I was able to quit my job and write full-time. To me, that means I’m successful, but it’s always a crapshoot. I never know when people will stop reading my books and I always know that day may come. It won’t matter to me, though. I’ll always write and I’ll always publish. I just appreciate that people enjoy my books. That means so much to me.
Was Mason always going to be the Kade that got the girl? #Team Mason (Lily)
Haha! Again, I can’t answer this question.

Doubt by KA Hobbs! SPOILER FREE REVIEW!!

Sophie and Doug have the perfect life. Both have respectable careers and their relationship is growing stronger every day. With work requiring Doug to travel, they spend many nights apart. Late night calls, feelings of secrets hanging in the air; will their relationship survive a ‘blast from the past’? Hurt, betrayal, love. Will Doug be forced to choose? Can Sophie see past the hurt and give Doug a chance to explain, for her to understand? Is their relationship strong enough to cope with the changes life has in store for them? Will they be able to move forward?

My Review

4*
So I was sucked into this book and the whirlwind that is Mr. Doug Roberts! He just has this charisma that wraps you around his little finger... I really enjoyed this book as it wasn't just a HEA love story, it's real. They have ups and downs, they have heartbreak and disasters. But most of all they have a once in a lifetime love that makes you believe in them and their story! Doug is a swoon worthy man! He has a cocky demeanour that borders on arrogance but never crosses that line! Sophie is a fairly strong and independent woman, she doesn't rely on Doug and I think for me that is the best part! I don't like weak characters, I like characters that can stand on their own feet and fight their way out of any situation and that is exactly why I love these characters. The story does get dark in places and is very emotional. Be prepared to want more and if you become a part of the 'I <3 Doug Roberts' fan club then be prepared to want to strangle him in places! If you want a book with a smooth love story then maybe this isn't for you, but if you want the real love story, the one that isn't smooth but that is rocky and bumpy then I recommend this book!

Saving Wishes (Book one in the wishes series) by GJ Walker-Smith REVIEW!!!

Saving wishes (book one in the wishes series) by G J Walker Smith Review!!!

For Charli Blake, being seventeen is a tough gig. She's been branded a troublemaker, her reputation is in tatters and she's stuck in Pipers Cove, a speck of a town on the coast of Tasmania. Thankfully, it's temporary. Her lifelong dream of travelling the world is just months away from becoming reality. All she has to do is ride out the last few months of high school, which is easier said than done thanks to a trio of mean girls known as The Beautifuls. When Adam DĂ©carie arrives in town, all the way from New York, life takes an unexpected turn. His arrival sets off a chain of events that alters her life forever, convincing her of one thing. Fate brought him to her. Saving Wishes is the story of a girl who doesn't quite fit the life she's living, and the boy who helps her realise why.

My Review

5*
I'm going to start this review by issuing a warning...This is one of the most addictive things that i've ever read....so unless you have unlimited time for the next week or two, i'd approach with caution! Walker Smith has created something with more magic and intrigue than Harry Potter and three leads that i defy you not to fall in love with! Between the obvious Adam and Charli romance and the adorable dynamic that she has with Alex (AKA the person who helped her believe in magic and co-creator of the fabulous La-La-Land) your in for an emotional journey of self discovery and a voyage to a place where magic and fairy tales are as much a part of every day life as oxygen and water. In the beginning my inner teenage self could definitely relate to Charli's desire to runaway from the small town she grew up in but as the story went on i found myself wishing she'd stay and learn to accept and appreciate the people around her. There was only really one character that i actively disliked and couldn't understand and that was Nicole. Everything about her annoyed me from the start...trust me you'll all agree later
On the whole, this book and series (because i find it impossible to judge this remotely fairly as a single novel) are amazing, magical, beautiful, charming and above all WELL WRITTEN! a thorough triumph!

FaCade by Ker Dukey & DH Sidebottom! SPOILER FREE REVIEW!!!!!

FaCade by Ker Dukey & DH Sidebottom! SPOILER FREE REVIEW!!!!!

WARNING! This book is Dark erotica.

This book contains situations that some may find offensive. If you are sensitive to graphic violence read with caution.

This book also leads into a second book. You will get answers but the story will continue into a final instalment. You have been warned. Enjoy.

You meet someone. You date. You fall in love. You marry.

The four simple rules of love....

Wrong! I'm getting married but I'd never met him before now, never dated him, never fell in love. I have no access to the memories of the most magical time of anyone's life.

My mind won't allow me to evoke the past, I can't remember those simple stages to lead me to the fourth .

I can't comprehend why I would have ever wanted to marry someone like Dante. I should never have passed the first stage, although, I may have seen him through the eyes of the woman I once was, this me that lives, breathes here now, can't understand how we made it to the next stage.

I'm not sure, without memories, how I know that this voice inside me, telling me I would never have chosen him, speaks some truth, I just know. He's controlling, arrogant, callous and violent, and utterly hell bent on humiliating and degrading me - Like watching me falter, watching me struggle to comply and be the woman he asked to marry, powers him- as though he wants to break me piece by piece. Fiber by fiber. Until all that's here is the shell he created from a soul that I once owned.

Now my memories are slowly returning. And they show me a completely different side to meeting him. Our dates, falling in love. The Dante haunting me in the shadows of my mind is loving, gentle and utterly enamored with me, nothing like the man with me now.

And this is what taunts me. My tender lover turned into a debauched, cruel sadist who is determined to consume my life, destroy my mind and murder my spirit.

I am, Star, and just like with some stars in the sky, the light you see is an echo, a façade, I am already gone

I am a no one.

Especially to him. To him I am the dark in his desires, the corrupt in his depravity.

The sin in his immorality

My Review

4.5*
Ok so even with the forewarning about this book and its cliff hanger ending I was still screaming at the end! Be warned it will drive you crazy and just when you think you are getting some answers... BOOM end of the book... I want to hate Dante I really do but for whatever reason I really can't 100% hate him! Its crazy frustrating when you love and loath a character... but that is Dante for me! I think he is such a fantastic character and because of his personality the whole book has a very addictive feel! I found I was needing to see how he reacted, would he explode? Would he apologise? I love how unpredictable he is! And Star well I just didn't know how I felt about her! At first I wasn't sure if she was going to annoy me or what but by the end I was starting to really like her! I love the up and down of the story but OMG I did not expect that ending and even though I hate cliff hangers I can't think of a more perfect way to end it. The whole story was so addictive I couldn't put it down, I just had to know what happened next! I cannot wait for Cadence! Such an amazing book, thank you Ker and Dawn for bringing this awesome book into my life!

Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti! SPOILER FREE REVIEW!!!

Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti! SPOILER FREE REVIEW!!!

WARNING: This is not a story about two happy people who fall easily into love. This is a story about two broken people who find one another - and don't necessarily like each other. These characters are blunt, rude, and at times annoying. They are broken and sheltered and vulnerable.

This book has violence, sexual situations, and harsh language and is not recommended for those under 17.

--

“In here,” he said, pushing on the skin above my heart, “you're ten below zero. And you’re closer to death than I am.”

My name is Parker. My body is marked with scars from an attack I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I choose to live my life by observation, not through experience. While people are laughing and kissing and connecting, I’m in the corner. Watching them live. I’m indifferent to everything, everyone. The only emotion I feel with any kind of depth is annoyance, and I feel it often.

A text message sent to the wrong number proves to be my undoing.

His name is Everett, but I call him rude. He’s pushy, he’s arrogant, he crowds my personal space, and worst of all: he makes me feel.

He chooses to wear all black, all the time, as if he’s waiting to attend a funeral. Probably because he is.

Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.

He hurts me, he fulfills me, he completes me. And still, he's dying.

My Review

5*
So my sister demanded I read this and I wasn't sure what to expect as she didn't give me any hints about the book at all so I had no idea what to expect! I'm not gonna lie and say I loved every word or even every page because I didn't... I didn't really like Parker until she started to feel it isn't because she isn't a brilliantly formed character because she is, it's because I wouldn't have tolerated her if she was real. But when her true personality starts coming through I think she is one of the strongest women characters I have come across and after that initial dislike I found myself really liking her! And Everett.... He is just awesome! He isn't your normal book bf and I think that's the appeal! I love that he is honest to a brutal point and I love his take no BS attitude! The story was amazing and I can honestly say that I did not see any of that coming! For me it wasn't predictable or unbelievable which are my two main things with books. I like it when they are unpredictable and believable, I don't like reading and thinking yeah that could never happen in real life (unless it is paranormal) So yeah by the end I loved both characters and thought the story was mind blowing! Its a very emotional story and whilst I rarely cry and haven't ever cried reading I very nearly did reading this! Whitney really did a fantastic job with this and I am so so glad she shared this with the world! Thank you Whitney!!!

***ELITE PAPERBACK LAUNCH DAY BLITZ***

When I won the annual Eagle Elite College Scholarship lottery, I was thrilled. After all, my grandma had just died and I wanted to take care of my aging grandpa -- he couldn't be a farmer in Wyoming forever. And graduating from Eagle Elite meant opportunity.

But I wasn't counting on meeting Nixon.

Nor was I counting on the rules of the Elect.

1. Do not touch The Elect.
2. Do not look at The Elect.
3. Do not speak to The Elect.

And worst of all? Don't discover the secret they hide, because in the end, you may just realize... it's about you.

My Review

I found this book through Amazon recommending it and I am so glad they did! At the time I didn't really read any kind of Romance, I was more into Crime and Paranormal so I didn't really get why Amazon was recommending it but I downloaded the sample and gave it a chance anyway. After I read the sample I bought the book and spent the whole night awake reading it! I needed to know how it ended for my own sanity, and I defy anyone with a sense of humour to put down that book after reading about Grandma Nadine! Being in my 20s I was able to relate to the characters and found them immensely funny and realistic!  My favourite character by far is Travis, I just love his sense of humour and his mannerisms. They are just like the group of friends I have! I loved the story, I honestly didn't think it was going to go that way and I love that in a book... I mean what's the point in reading if you can predict the ending of the story? The only thing I would've liked to have was some of the book from Grandma Nadine's point of view.... The story didn't need it, the book was amazing without it, I would've just liked to have access to that woman's mind even if only for a paragraph! :) I adored the ending! To be honest I think it was this book that got me reading romance. It was definitely this book that got me hooked on Rachel Van Dyken!

Rachel absolutely adores hearing from her readers and here is where you can find her :)
